So Why Photography?

If you asked me in high school what I wanted to do in life, my answer would be miles away from this. If you saw me on the weekend DJ’ing a wedding, you would probably never guess that I have an equally strong passion for photography. But, having spent the past five years behind a camera capturing a range of product, lifestyle, and senior photos, I know this: my camera and the obscene number of lenses, lights, and accessories that come with it are here to stay. I can’t help but love the memories that are made in the process of capturing beautiful, emotional photos and I love the feelings that photos can evoke today, tomorrow, and decades from now.

If we haven’t already met, my name is Steven and I’ve been living in the San Luis Obispo area for a little over two years now. I used to say I did a little of everything because I was a full time Business student at Cal Poly, worked downtown in fast food, and also worked across town as a product photographer. Now, I’m fortunate enough to say I’m still a Business student who is becoming very grounded in media and entertainment. I spend many weekends visiting some of the most beautiful wineries and event venues in the county as a wedding DJ and I spend my weeks in class and on my photography. Thanks to these experiences, I can confidently say I know of many of the best places in town to watch the sunset!

I’m also a big believer in photoshoots being an authentic, mutual exchange of creativity, trust, friendship, and an all around high class experience. It’s because of these values that I always carry a Bluetooth speaker with me, always show you the photos I am taking, and always communicate to make sure our visions are aligned. As I guide you through our shoot, I care about noticing every detail and I focus on how to help you look your best without looking artificially posed. In the end, I want you to know you looked your best and I want you to feel like a million dollars.
